MCPHD COVID-19 Dashboard
Please note that this dashboard will be retired in 30 days (Last date of availability will be July 15th). Should there be a re-activation of the public health emergency or a significant increase in disease burden, it may be reactivated. For current COVID-19 data please visit the Indiana Department of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard, https://www.coronavirus.in.gov/indiana-covid-19-dashboard-and-map/. For any questions regarding these changes please reach out to epidemiology@marionhealth.org. Thank you!
Due to changes in available data sources, this dashboard has been updated as of 2024-02-14. This shift places emphasis on hospitalization and vaccination rates as recommended by the CDC and others. Case and death data go through the last reporting date (2023-11-14), and the graphs associated with this data have been left for examination of historical trends. For any questions regarding these changes please reach out to epidemiology@marionhealth.org.
To look at the CDC hospitalization levels by county, please see: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#maps_new-admissions-rate-county.

Cases and deaths as of 2023-11-14 5 PM.
*Date represents the start date of an investigation for cases and the date of death for deaths.
2020-09-07: Testing and case reporting appears to have been greatly reduced over Labor Day weekend. The large reduction in new cases around Sept. 9 is likely due to to that, rather than an actual decrease in spread.
2020-09-23: A laboratory reporting error was corrected on 9/18 which caused 357 cases to be dated for 9/17, their reporting date. On 9/23, those cases were moved from 9/17 to their respective sample dates. Versions of this report prior to 9/23 had those cases assigned to 9/17.
2021-06-09: A laboratory reporting error was corrected on 6/9 which caused 390 cases to be dated for 6/2, their reporting date. On 6/9, those cases were moved from 6/2 to their respective sample dates. Versions of this report prior to 6/9 had those cases assigned to 6/2.
* Fully vaccinated persons are those who received a second dose of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or a first dose of a Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two weeks prior to the given date.

Hospitalizations
** Last Updated 2024-07-08 12 PM. For information on interpreting rates and confidence intervals (the black, sideways at the top of each bar), please see the About the Data tab.
Data Source Information: COVID-19 and Respiratory Illness Tracker developed by faculty and staff with the Regenstrief Institute, IHIE, and IU. Reported cases, testing and hospitalizations may differ from IDOH counts. Please see IDOH’s Coronavirus Website for official counts.
Note: For the graphs with the option to change time frames some of the shorter periods (i.e. “Last 60 Days”, “Last 30 Days”) may not display a graph. This is due to a low number of hospitalizations over that period.
**Due to statistical instability, a point estimate would be misleading. Please see the 95% confidence interval.

Rate per 100,000: Rates are multiplied by a large number - most often 100,000 - to simplify comparisons. A rate per 100,000 will describe the number of events or illnesses that occurred in a population for every 100,000 people.
Confidence Intervals: This dashboard presents 95% confidence intervals with statistics when the information to calculate confidence intervals was available. Confidence intervals are a range in which the true value is likely to fall and indicates how accurate the statistic may be; the narrower the confidence interval, the more reliable the statistic. For example, in “Example: Figure 8” below, the “I” on the first vertical bar indicates that the statistics estimating poverty among whites in Marion County (14.8%) is fairly reliable; it is accurate to within 0.6 percent. In other words, given the underlying data, we are 95% confident that between 14.2% and 15.4% of white Marion County residents had household incomes below the federal poverty level. In contrast, the statistic estimating poverty among Hispanics is less reliable, accurate to within 2.3 percent (34.1%, 95% CI: 31.8-36.4). In general, as the amount of data used for a statistic increases, the statistic becomes more reliable, and therefore the confidence intervals get narrower.
