The Social Work Department of the Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD) provides a range of services to the citizens of Marion County who require public health assistance and community programs to enhance their social, environmental, emotional and behavioral health needs. MCPHD social workers and staff are dedicated and committed to ensuring residents are recipients of maximum and optimum health outcomes. Our staff is available to provide services in homes, schools, healthcare centers, churches, and at various community sites and locations.

Services are geared towards the prevention, early identification and alleviation of psychosocial issues impacting the use and response to health care as well as mental/behavioral health service provision. The Social Work Department provides individual and family counseling, anger management, self-esteem groups, grief and loss groups, parenting, and many more services to the citizens of Marion County.

The department is dedicated to our core functions and services; along with programs and services to the community-including: Parenting Classes at the Indiana Women’s Prison and Bullying Prevention Services in conjunction with the MCPHD Violence Prevention Coordinator to various schools, churches, agencies, and groups within Marion County, along and Parenting and Anger Management groups at YouthBuild Indy.

Social Work Department staff are trained in providing Psychological First Aid/crisis management and response for Public Health Emergencies/Disaster Response.
