Chronic Disease

The Chronic Disease Department strives to help people develop and maintain healthy lifestyles and encourages environments to make it easier for people to eat nutritious food, have an active lifestyle, and avoid tobacco and related products. The goals and objectives for each of the Chronic Disease programs are set in line with the needs of the community, the goals of the Health Department, and the national goals outlined by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Members of the Chronic Disease staff provide screening and education services to Marion County neighborhoods, worksites, places of worship, schools, and community health centers.  Staff  work with community stakeholders and partners to address policy, systems, and environmental approaches to enabling healthier lifestyles.
