Mosquito Control
What We Do
The Mosquito Control Program has a two-fold mission: 1) Prevent or reduce the potential for mosquito disease transmission; and 2) Control nuisance biting mosquitoes enough to allow the citizens of Marion County to enjoy outdoor activities.
We accomplish this by using the strategy of Integrated Mosquito Management (I.M.M.) to control Marion County’s mosquito population. The four parts of I.M.M. include:
- Chemical control – “larviciding” and “adulticiding”
- Biological control – e.g, mosquito fish and purple martins
- Source reduction – e.g., tire recycling
- Education
