Infectious Disease Control
What We Do
We are a team of Nurse Epidemiologists, and our job is to review and investigate incidents of conditions outlined in the Indiana Reportable Disease List.
In addition to fighting the spread of infectious diseases in Marion County, we also provide patient education for people diagnosed with a reportable condition.
The sooner we are aware, the more effective our measures are — contact us immediately if you have concerns or questions about infectious diseases in your area.
Connect With UsTuberculosis & STIs
Our identification team does not investigate case reports of tuberculosis or sexually transmitted infections, as there are separate divisions dedicated to responding to these needs.

Animal Bites
Our Infectious Disease department reviews all reports of Animal Bites or high-risk animal contact for residents of Marion County, to assess risk of rabies transmission.
We do not coordinate animal quarantine or code enforcement — that is a responsibility of Indianapolis Animal Care Services (317.327.1397).
Our Directive
To review and investigate communicable diseases that appear in the Indiana Reportable Disease List, and provide education to patients diagnosed with those conditions.
