The Marion County Health Department regulates the construction of private well and well pumps using 312 IAC 13-1 (Well Drillers Rule) and Chapter 18 of the Code of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Environmental Health specialists increase residents’ knowledge of ground water wells and their proper maintenance through various educational efforts. The Marion County Health Department requires proper abandonment of wells no longer in service. Environmental Health Specialists are available to conduct private well water sampling at no cost to well owners.
